2026 Class Schedule

 Yoga Stretch

Yoga stretch creates mobility, flexibility and strength in the body and the mind.  This class is perfect for all levels from absolute beginners to experienced yoga practitioners.

The classes are designed to benfit women through all the ages and stages of our lives.  It is never too late to start yoga, we are never too old, too injured or too anything! Yoga is infinitely modifiable, yes not every pose is for every body, but there are so many ways we can modify poses or swap them out for a post that suits our own individual bodies and needs.  We will always gain from the practices.

Yoga works in so many ways, and though it is a body and breath led practice, and is great for our musculoskeletal system, our joints, bones, brain and organs.  Yoga  works also with the nervous system.  It brings balance and equilibrium, restores, rejuvenates and relaxes all aspects of body, mind and spirit.

When we do yoga it brings us into a parasympathetic state, this part of our nervous system is often called the rest and digest, or tend and befriend system, and is the part that brings about feelings of calm, relaxation and well-being.

When we are stressed, experiencing high levels of tension or trauma, we stay in a heightened sympathetic nervous system state, the fight or flight state.  Here, cortisol (stress hormone) is released into the body – blood pressure increases, blood sugar levels increase, heart and breath rate increase, and our digestive and immune system functions slow down.

Being in this state for long periods decreases immunity and leaves us more vulnerable to disease.  The effect of yoga, which brings us into our parasympathetic nervous system, can reverse the effects of stress, improving the functioning of the organ systems of the body and thereby improving our overall health and well-being.

“When you practice yoga once a week, you change your mind. When you practice yoga twice a week you change your body. When you practice yoga everyday it will change your life”. -Unknown
